Exit Plan

For some development initiatives where implementing agents are not the same as the beneficiaries, an important measure to ensure the sustainability of the project is to focus funds and effort on strengthening the capacity of local beneficiaries to gradually take ownership of the initiative.

For this, they consider it appropriate to design an Exit plan with defined deadlines, and with the target of achieving the local beneficiaries’ self-sustainability in an agreed period of time. This helps the sustainability and scalability of the initiative, rather than that of its implementing agents.
