Favoring internal communication with concrete means

Often the first challenge to building self-sustainability comes from the difficulty of assuring participants can communicate with each other.

Barriers can be the result of cultural, social, ethnic, economic divides among stakeholders. They can also be caused by different interests, professional, or disciplinary backgrounds.

Communication problems can cause duplicated efforts, underutilization of resources, confusion on rights and responsibilities, self-defeating actions, underrepresentation of certain interests.

Many initiatives thus purposely design ways to specifically improve communication (eg. the organization of fairs, the use of social media, the appointment of a Communication team, etc).
